FAU Celebrates Fall 2020 Graduates
Ìıwill confer more than 2,900 degrees for the fall 2020 semester in a special virtual ceremony. The new graduates will join more than 178,000 who have graduated from FAU since the University opened its doors in 1964. This is the largest fall graduating class in FAU history.
“I’m very proud of our graduates’ perseverance, especially during these challenging times,†saidÌıFAU President John Kelly. “Sincere congratulations to the fall class of 2020. These à£à£Ö±²¥Ğã contributed much to the life of this university and we are very proud of their accomplishments.â€Ìı
Fall commencement highlights the accomplishments of several outstanding graduates,Ìıincluding:
- Hannah Herbst, 20,Ìıhad an impressive career at and at the University. At age 15, she was named “America’s Top Young Scientist†and at 17 she was named to the 2018ÌıForbesÌı“30 Under 30†list. She also was a member of FAU High’s state champion track and field team.ÌıHerbst will graduate magna cum laudeÌıwithÌıa bachelor’s degree in .ÌıAfter graduation, she plans to continue to build her startup company, Tiburon Technologies, LLC, which developed a surgical wound dressing modeled after the bioactive properties of shark skin.
Some interesting statistics regarding the fall graduating class include the fact that 80 of the degree recipients are over the age of 50 and seven are over the age of 60. The oldest graduate is 67, and the youngest is 18. The graduates represent 42 countries.
