has awarded with this year’s BOT Service Award. This award recognizes friends of the University who contribute their time and expertise to FAU through sustained and exemplary service.

“As first lady of Florida Atlantic University, Carolyn Kelly tirelessly represents FAU in the community with the overarching goal of uniting the strengths of the university with the South Florida region and beyond,” said , chair of FAU’s BOT. “She has made it her mission to create economic partnerships for FAU through building relationships with business leaders, elected officials, nonprofit organizations, donors and the community-at-large. We are proud to present her with this award.”  

Since coming to FAU in May 2014, Kelly has helped to raise significant funds for student scholarships through the Kelly Family Scholarship Fund and the , along with her husband, . Both of these programs provide financial assistance to talented ֱ who otherwise might not be able to afford a college education.

Carolyn Kelly was the architect behind the book which recognized the many ways in which women have built FAU’s reputation for excellence. She also played an integral role in creating the “FAU High School M.D. Direct” program, which places high school student directly in line for medical school at FAU, jumpstarting their careers as young, aspiring physicians-to-be.

Prior to moving to Boca Raton, Kelly was the first female director of the South Carolina Coastal ֱ, where she oversaw harbor deepening port expansion and beach renourishment, Coastal Regulatory permitting, and off-shore issues and initiatives.
